Salted Caramel Cupcakes

Hi Guys,
I made some really delicious cupcakes today, that I cannot wait to share with you! I've developed the recipe from one I chose from InTheKitchenWithKate.
This recipe makes 12-15 cupcakes depending on the size of the cupcake cases you use and the amount of mixture you add into each case. I filled mine about 2/3 of the way full and it gave them really lovely flat tops, ideal for piping onto.
Ingredients
For the Cupcakes:
*200g Plain Flour/All Purpose Flour
* 45g Cocoa Powder
* 2tsp Baking Powder
* 1/4tsp Salt
*180g Caster Sugar/Superfine Sugar
*100g Soft Light Brown Sugar
*80g Unsalted Butter
*240ml Whole Milk (Semi-Skimmed works just fine too)
*2 Eggs
*1tsp Vanilla
For the Caramel:
*400g Caster Sugar/Superfine Sugar
*165g Unsalted Butter
*250ml Double Cream
*1 1/2 tsp Flaked Sea Salt
For the Butter-cream:
*250g Icing Sugar/Powdered Sugar
*80g Unsalted Butter
*25ml Whole Milk (Again, Semi-Skimmed works just as well)
*1tsp Vanilla Extract
Method
1. For the caramel, pour the sugar into a large pan, on a medium heat & stir.
2. Once dissolved, add the butter until it has melted.
3. Gradually add the cream and stir after each addition.
4. Take the pan off the heat and stir in the salt. If you don't have flaked salt, use regular rock salt and grind it until smaller crystals are formed.
5. Line a cupcake tray with cupcake cases.
6. Sift the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder and salt into a bowl and mix all of them together, till fully combined.
7. Beat the two sugars together as well as the butter.
8. Crack the two eggs into the milk, add the vanilla extract and mix the whole thing with a small whisk or a fork.
9. Add 1/3 of the milk mixture to the butter and sugar, before adding 1/2 of the dry ingredients.
10. Next, pour in the rest of the liquid and put the rest of the dry ingredients in with the other mixture.
11. Fill your cupcake cases using a table spoon or ice cream scoop, till they are 2/3 full.
12. Bake these for 18-20 minutes in a preheated oven at 170 fan.
13. Once the cupcakes have cooled, cut a hole in the centre of the cupcake and add your caramel. Close the whole up again, by using the part you cut off beforehand, as a lid.
14. For the butter-cream, add the butter to half of the icing sugar, sifted.
15. Add the milk and vanilla extract before sifting the remaining icing sugar into the mix and beating for 5 minutes until it appears gorgeous and fluffy.
16. Apply the butter-cream any way you choose and microwave the caramel for 20 seconds till runny and drizzle over the top . I also added the personal touch of some crushed biscuits, just to add some texture.

Skin Solutions

Hi Guys,

A little bit like myself, my skin can be temperamental at times. Especially when it comes to 'that time of the month.' My skin type is oily and because of that, I often get a lot of spots and these can sometimes scar or take their time to heal. I've tried various products over the years, in order to combat the troubles I have with my blemishes.

I believe that a good skin care routine is the key to solving skin issues and everybody should adapt theirs to their own skin type, in order to get the best results. However, for me, I can be a tad self concious about my spots and a foundation that claims to help conceal them, will always go straight in my basket. I'm guessing that some of you readers may have blemishes that make you feel less than peachy, so I thought I'd share some miracle products, that help me with those pesky spots.

One hell of a name isn't it? I love this face wash and I think, that although at first glance, it may seem expensive, it's actually great value for money. It's £8 from Boots and you get 350ml of product in the bottle. It smells really fresh and invigorating and has a strong citrus scent.
I like to wet my face first, before lathering a small amount of the product in-between my fingers and then I use circular motions to take the facial wash all around my face, focusing on the T-zone, in particular. It detoxifies, polishes and purifies the skin, leaving your face feeling super clean and smooth, with pores feeling less clogged. It also helps to balance the oils in your face and as oils are one of the things that can produce spots, this little gem prevents them also. It has little pink beads of goodness in there too, so it exfoliates the skin.

Rimmel Clear Complexion Transparent Powder
This is something I've only recently discovered and I'm warming to it really well. I think, if you have blemishes like I do, it's difficult to cover them, without your whole make up look appearing too heavy. This is a great product, in that respect, because it mattifies the skin, but is transparent so doesn't look "cakey". The powder is a bargain at £3.99! It also minimizes skin break outs. Therefore, you know that whilst you've sneakily concealed any spots or blemishes, the powder is doing some good for your skin too.

Quick Fix Facials Anti Blemish Mud Mask
Mud masks are renown for being a god send for people with spots and this one is definitely that. It only took £2.49 from my pocket and, in return, has promised to supply me with 10 glorious facials. I think this is half-price in Boots, so if you want to get this for a steal, then I'd snap one up quick!
This is cleverly developed for people with oily and spot prone skin, so you know it's bound to work and it does! The dead sea mud helps to absorb and control oil and salicylic acid helps draw out those nasty impurities and tighten pores. Also, there is tea tree oil in there to treat spots directly and prevent possible future break outs. I use this bad boy once a week.

Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Foaming Cleanser
At only £5.50, this amazing cleanser is a marvellous buy, with 150ml of it to have a go at. Again, it's another Tea Tree product and this one works wonders, just like the face mask. Unusually, you wet the skin with your make up still on, before rubbing in the foam, all over your face, to remove whatever you've got on. It takes all make up off, apart from eye make up because that would sting a bit! This is truly a lovely product, as it removes impurities and cleanses the skin whilst helping you to stay blemish free! It also has a tingling sensation when you massage it into the skin, so you know it's working it's magic on your face.

NO7 Beautifully Matte Foundation
Now, for one of my all time favourite beauty products! Unfortunately, I believe this is only available in the UK ,at Boots, but you may be able to find it online on E bay or Amazon. This one is £13.50. However, a top tip is that if you buy something cheaper from NO7 , or have a root around at the self checkouts, Boots do some vouchers
which offer £5 off skin care and £3 off any make up items. So, if you manage to hunt one of those down, you could pick this up for £10.50. Honestly, it's the best foundation I've ever tried and gives a medium to full coverage ,whilst controlling excess oils, for a matte finish. It has SPF 15 to protect your skin from sun damage and the formula includes Salicylic Acid to clean out those pores! I have mine in the shade Calico.

Soap And Glory -The Fab Pore Moisture Lotion
£12.00 for 50ml
In conjunction with the face wash, this product is fab! It shrinks pores which prevents black heads and makes areas were you have very big or open pores, feel really smooth. It also tones the skin and like most products featured on here, manages greasy T-zones. Oh and Guys ... It's blue!

Witch Blemish Stick
You may think that this product won't work, when you first look at it, because it's a stick and it's small. I thought the same. I believed that a stick would only transfer the bacteria from one spot onto the other and spread my spots all over my face. But this is small and mighty and does truly work! When you rub a little bit of this on a spot, it really tingles and burns, but you know its working the good stuff on your skin, so bare with it. It ultimately breaks down oils and fights the bacteria that produces and stays on spots.

That was a long one, sorry Guys! I hope that this helps any of you who suffer with spots and I know it was long, but all of the content it beneficial I promise. I hope that these products work for you and your skin, but remember that beauty comes from within and spots are just a mere bump in the road, they wont stick around forever!

Starbucks Visit

Hi Guys,

I must admit, I'm really liking blogging. Rather than just giving me something to do or to rekindle my love for writing, I feel it's making me a more adventurous person, spurring me on to make more of an effort to go out and do things I normally wouldn't.
I love a cup of tea or a hot chocolate and if they come from Starbucks, then I know I'm onto a winner. I went to Starbucks yesterday with my lovely friend Tamzin. Some of you might know the name from her blog Tamzin Snelling  The beauty recently just got over 1000 views on her page and is becoming really successful in what she does. I've tagged her blog, right where her name is, so go over and give it a look. It's really similar to my own blog as it also covers Mental Health, Beauty and a bit of Lifestyle as well.
With the plug for my chummy over, I'll get to the Starbucks visit itself. The one we went to is on the corner of a really shabby chic building and inside is super cosy. For the sake of this blog post and to inspire myself to break boundaries, I tried a beverage and snack that I'd never had before. I know, what a rebel Ha! It all felt really autumnal and I really enjoyed what I had. Above, you will see precisely this; A salted caramel cookie and Hazelnut Hot Chocolate.
Not going to lie to you, I had a bit of a nightmare with what I ordered. I did not ask for a Hazelnut Hot Chocolate, I asked for a caramel one, because they are my fave. I was too polite to correct the guy who served me so hazelnut is what I had! But it was really tasty. Nothing too strong or mind blowing but a decent Hot Chocolate with a great amount of whipped cream on top.
The Salted Caramel cookie was amazing and, this time, was exactly what I asked for. It was pretty huge to be honest, but I'm a bit of a greedy gal so I loved this factor. It was also nice and gooey, which really agreed with my cookie preferences haha. As you can see there's a crack in the cookie. This is completely my fault, wasn't lying to you when I said I was greedy!

Bye you lovely people,

Lush Bath

Hi Guys,

As well as loving beauty, I love skin care and right at the top of my list are Lush products ... all of them. I had a Lush bath recently and as well as it being a good way to test out new products I find it is also a great method to relax and de-stress at the end of a long day.
I'd been shopping since 11:00 am till 4:30 pm and my feet were killing and I could picture nothing more satisfying than diving into a world full of bubbles and bath bombs.
As you may already be aware, Lush have brought out their Christmas and Halloween ranges and I could not be more delighted! So, whilst shopping yesterday, I purchased a couple of products to see if my love for their ranges was still there.

Here are the products side by side

The blue bundle of swirls is the 'Blue Skies And White Fluffy Clouds' bubble bar which you crumble, lovingly, under a warm tap (Careful not to burn your fingers!) and, in turn, beautiful bubbles are produced. As well as this, the product turns your bath water a cool toned blue, so I like to pretend the water is much more exotic than the kind just from my tap. This is £4.95 and double sized, made with a supposable new formula. It has a musky, almost autumnal scent, but the freshness, that you can imagine when being outside and observing the skies, still remains. This comes from Patchouli and Frankincense, which helps you relax when your in the tub.
The second product is similar to 'Butterball' but is shaped like a cute bear and is part of the Christmas range. It has small segments of cocoa butter in there which makes it really moisturising for your skin and it has a sensational vanilla scent and isn't too sickly. This is one of the less expensive products at £1.95. And for this cheeky bear, you just simply throw him into your fully run bath and watch him fizz away!

Hope you enjoyed this post friends!

ThatGirlWhoBlogs

Hi,

Some of you who are returning may be questioning; 'Where have all the Scoliosis posts gone?' Well my friends, they have been saved in my heart but deleted everywhere else, Once my surgery had been completed I no longer felt the need to blog about my experience, as I viewed everything to do with my spinal problem, as being in the past. I know I left you readers on a eternal cliff hanger, but I would love it if you could please respect my choices to move on and recreate this blog.

The truth is, I've rediscovered my love for blogging and realized it wasn't the blogging I'd fallen out of love with, it was the topic. I really want to blog about things I love and that make me who I am and make my experiences and Scoliosis is no longer a big part of that. Instead I'm splitting this blog into three sections; Mental Health, Lifestyle and Beauty. I'm very excited about the latter. I adore all things related to make up. I wear it pretty much every day and enjoy experimenting with a variety of products as well as different looks for each season.

As well as this I would like to share certain elements of my lifestyle with you. By this I mean, if I go to any special events or if I go anywhere nice, I'll post pictures. This also goes for if I bake anything yummy too! I mean, who doesn't love to look at pictures of cake?

Finally, on a more serious note, I have decided to share with you the trials and tribulations I have being an anxiety sufferer. I feel like I'm in a really good place in my life where I can offer advice on how to de-stress and cope with nervousness or even low stages in which we all experience

Thanks Guys,
